ADA Cottage -Security of Tenure

When you are offered and accept a place at ADA Cottage, that place is secure, but there are certain circumstances under which you may leave ADA Cottage, or may be asked to leave. If you are required to leave ADA Cottage we will assist you in finding alternate accommodation that meets your assessed long term needs and is affordable to you

There could be several reasons why you would leave ADA Cottage to move to another aged care facility. One is if the care you need changes significantly, and ADA Cottage is unable to provide the right care. This would happen if you require daily access to registered nursing support.

You may wish to move to another aged care facility if you have accepted a place in ADA Cottage and it was not your first choice.

You may leave ADA Cottage at any time for up to 52 overnight stays in each financial year, this allows you to have a holiday or spend time with family and friends. If you would like to have more leave than the 52 overnight stays, ADA Cottage will charge for any additional overnight stays.

If you have to spend time in hospital, your place at ADA Cottage will be kept for you until your return. While you are away you will continue to pay the daily care fee.

It is important that you know about the circumstances under which you may be asked to move to another home. These circumstances are written in the resident agreement.

The reasons that you may be asked to move to another home are:

  • ADA Cottage no longer has accommodation and care suitable for you and your long term needs, and ADA Cottage is unable to provide the kind of care that you currently need
  • You no longer require that care provided by ADA Cottage
  • You have not paid an agreed fee within 42 days after the day when it was due, for a reason within your control
  • You have intentionally caused:
    • Serious damage to ADA Cottage
    • Serious injury to an employee of ADA Cottage
    • Serious injury to yourself or another care recipient of ADA Cottage
